It’s a smart idea to have your roof inspected every couple of years and definitely sometime within 3-months of a hail event that may have caused damage. Some insurance companies only allow policy holders 180 days to initiate a claim for storm damage. If your roof does need to be replaced, you don’t want to miss a deadline. If you are selling your home the home buyer will probably hire a home inspector who will definitely get on your roof, or should. Home inspectors are not roofers, they have only limited knowledge of what to look for on a roof. Too many times, homebuyers have been told that a roof has hail damage and needs to be replaced when what they are looking at is bird droppings or something equally benign.
After we receive your inspection request, we will contact by your preferred method, phone, text or email, to let you know the date and time frame the inspector will stop by.
You do not need to be home for the inspection unless we are investigating a leak and need to inspect inside the house.
Generally, we don’t need to get in the backyard unless the garage is detached and is to be inspected.
The qualified roofing specialist will inspect every facet or slope of your roof, checking for loose shingles, nail pops, wind damage, hail damage and other irregularities such as accelerated aging, foot traffic and mechanical damage. Our inspector will check all of the flashing and vents to make sure they are securely attached, and check all of the roof vents and furnace and water heater vents to make sure they are providing proper ventilation.
Shortly after the inspection is completed, usually on the same day, a report of our findings, including relevant photos and our recommendations, will be emailed to you for your review.
WHAT COMES AFTER THE INSPECTION?
If your roof is in good enough condition, the report will state that clearly, and we will provide you with a Free 5-Year Roof Certificate and thank you for considering us for your roofing needs.
If our inspection reveals hail or wind damage so severe that we believe it should be brought to the attention of your insurance company, we will let you know.
If there is only slight or moderate damage, we will make note of it in the report and, at your request, provide you with an estimate for repairs, including Hail-B-Gone repairs.
If you initiate an insurance claim, it is to your financial advantage to have one of our Project Managers be there when the adjuster inspects the roof.
When we are dealing with hail damage, there is often damage to gutters and siding, windows, and paint. With our experience and keen eyes, we will do everything we can to ensure the insurance claim is as inclusive as possible.
If the claim is approved for repair or replacement, you will receive a nearly incomprehensible insurance claim estimate. It is confusing, and we will be happy to review it with you so that you understand exactly what it says.
**A quick note. Contractors, by law, are not allowed to pay or waive all or any portion of a policyholder’s deductible. Often, there are things we can do or not do that help to reduce the impact of costly insurance deductibles.
